Kashgar Uyghur Art Museum 喀什维吾尔族艺术博物馆 - Capstone Project, University of Idaho     ​

This museum design represents the capstone project. The location of this project is in Kashgar, Xinjiang, China. The existing building is the home to Kashgar interactional museum in the region. China has built over 3500 Chinese museums since 1978, which has led to gigantic new institutions without exhibits, poor-quality buildings and structures located in the middle of nowhere. Private art museums are proliferating in China, growing somewhat chaotically and facing challenges beyond communist bureaucracy. Many of the privately-run museums lack an exhibition plan and a budget, and even a security system and environmental controls. "Many just have a space, paint the walls, put up some art and call themselves a museum. It is another bubble, like the property bubble." (Jing Daily, November 3, 2011
). The Uyghur Art Museum is a new way of understanding the culture and arts of Uyghur ethnics groups in Kashgar, Xinjiang. The concept of the museum is to press for unity, maintain traditions, offer convenient, freedom fashion in design, and most importantly adhere to the "less is more" idea. Being in and immersing the soul by the rich history and crafts is the main point of the Uyghur Art Museum. The museum absorbs the local condition and ethnic culture background. Sharing information with the visitors, craftspersons and various people are trying to carry on the pride of the Uyghur group. The traditions will be shown through the basic balanced circulation, programming and applied codes for the new design; technologies will play a great role to attract, interact knowledge and effect visitors while visiting. Furthermore, the design highlights of a museum are the art work. The interior design will be simple, clean within distinctive cultural conditions. The visitors will enjoy the new art works and sink their souls into a new art level.

这项博物馆学生是室内设计专业毕业设计作品。这个博物馆位处新疆维吾尔自治区喀什市。原本建筑是作为喀什市城市规划建筑博物馆而使用。 中国自1978年以来建造了超过3500座博物馆,因此导致大多博物馆中没有相对的展览品,低质量的建筑单体和博物馆建筑在不为人知的地方。同时,私人艺术博物馆的激增导致混乱的场面,很多私人博物馆还面临着官僚主义的挑战。 私人博物馆缺乏展品的规划与预算,甚至有的私人博物馆缺少安全系统和正确的环境保护。“很多(博物馆)就是一个空洞的空间,被涂过的白墙,然后再在墙上放一些艺术品,就被称为了博物馆。这是一个新的泡沫,就像(中国的)房产泡沫一样。” 喀什维吾尔族艺术博物馆提供了一种新型理解,体会维吾尔族文化与艺术的途径。喀什艺术博物馆设计理念是以追求一致性,传统实用性,自由夸张的表现设计手法,最重要的是博物馆设计体现了“少即是多”的概念。 使参观者进入到这个空间里,身心与精神就会被深厚的历史与传统精美的手工文化而折服。这座博物馆会吸收喀什当地特色与维吾尔族民族特色。这座博物馆将是人们交流学习的集中地,各式各样的维吾尔族手艺人与文化将会在此地得到宣传并传送到更多的人那里去。传统的设计观念是以最基本的参观人流通过方式而体现出;高科技将也会是博物馆中的一大亮点,譬如能同时合成音乐的音乐角,能让人们在不知不觉中体会到文化带来的快乐。室内设计理念会以突出维吾尔族文化方面为主。风格会简单且真实符合维吾尔族的生活文化。让参观者沉浸与艺术的海洋之中。
